To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the Ohio State Center for Slavic and East European Studies will create a 6 x 20 foot “replica” of the wall on Monday, November 9 on the Wexner Plaza between Page Hall and the Wexner Center for the Arts. Construction of the wall will begin at 7 a.m. and once completed, passers-by can paint graffiti on the west side of the wall.

William Brustein, Vice Provost for Global Strategies and International Affairs, outlined a strategy for integrating international experiences and perspectives into the teaching, research and engagement mission of Ohio State at a University Board of Trustee committee meeting on Wednesday, October 28. Brustein explained to the Academic Affairs and Student Life Committee that the foundation of a global university is one in which internationalization is perceived as value-added across all disciplines rather than one that operates alone as a silo.

Applications are available now for the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad and Faculty Research Abroad programs. These grants enable advanced graduate students studying modern foreign language and area studies to conduct research on their dissertation projects, as well as fund faculty interested in maintaining and improving their foreign language and area studies skills to conduct research in another county. The OSU campus deadline for applications is Monday, November 16.
